Parent Opportunities
Parent-Teacher Fellowship
A number of KCS parents coordinate efforts to benefit KCS and the teaching staff in a variety of ways. If you have interest in being part of this very worthwhile group, contact the school or Development offices for additional information!
Mom's In Touch
Every Monday morning, from 8:30 to 9:30, a group of KCS moms meet at the school to collect and pray for many prayer requests and school concerns. "It's a joy to claim the promise in Matthew 7:7 "Ask and it shall be given to you . . ." and watch God work among His people. The time also presents a wonderful opportunity to build relationships with the teachers, staff and other parents, but above all, to pray that God will perform a mighty work in our children's lives! There is no better way to invest one hour of your time each week!
Volunteers
Parent and grandparent volunteers are the backbone of Kingsway Christian School. Volunteers are welcomed to assist in any number of areas from tutoring, playground supervision, lunchroom duties to special events assistance and driving buses. If you have an area of interest or special skills, contact the school or development offices and we'll be glad to get you plugged in!
Hospitality
Each year, many events are conducted at Kingsway Christian School. From special meetings, teachers appreciation week to Grandparents Day, science fairs and many more, the need to make people feel welcome is important. Our Hospitality Group does a wonderful job of decorating and providing food to set the proper atmosphere for each event. If you enjoy working with special events, food or decorations, join this key group of people that help KCS put it's best foot forward!
Bookstore
The KCS Bookstore is available to provide many of the basic school supplies that the students will need throughout the school year. Pens, pencils, paper and much more are available for purchase each morning. Promotional items such as shirts, hats, pens, coffee mugs and much more are also available at various times throughout the year.
Newsletters
"HoofPrints" is published 2 to 3 times a year and is geared towards KCS families and supporters. This gives a recap of special events and accomplishments, lists Honor Roll and Student of the Month recipients, upcoming events, prayer requests and upcoming activities. It also includes areas where parents can volunteer, both short-term and long-term, to strengthen the KCS program and become more involved in their children’s lives.
Press Releases
There are a large number of student accomplishments, both personal and school related, that take place each month, and we want to let Avon area people know about them! We're looking for several moms or dads who would be willing to be part of a team of reporters to submit articles to the newspapers and TV stations. This requires NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE and can easily done from a home computer!
Giving Opportunities [Back to top]
General Donations
KCS is a 501(c)3 organization and can accept tax deductible cash and non-cash donations. Contributions can be designated towards a particular fund, or they can be general in nature to allow the school to use it where it would be best used at a particular time. All general donations are tax deductible.
Worthy Servants Fund
This was introduced last year as a way to give teachers and staff a Christmas Bonus. While KCS teachers are paid fairly well by Christian school standards, it's considered to to be relatively "flat". This means that KCS teachers make roughly 75% of what public school teachers make, then the gap widens with each additional year. Therefore, a Christmas Bonus is a very welcome boost at a very needed time of the year. For every dollar donated, 80% will go directly towards the current year Christmas Bonus, with the remaining 20% going into the Making A Difference Fund. All contributions to the Worthy Servant fund are tax deductible.
Making A Difference Fund
This is a long term fund designed to accumulate funds and interest, using the interest to assist with teacher salaries, insurance and other benefits. All contributions to the Making A Difference Fund are tax deductible.
Cornerstone Club
Each fall, KCS conducts a special program highlighting various KCS staff & students, recent achievements and a look into the future. During this time, we also ask families to consider becoming a Cornerstone Club member. Club members consist of current and former KCS parents, grandparents and friends who understand thte need, benefits and importance contributions play in the growth and development of KCS. All contributions to the Cornerstone Club are tax deductible.
Giving Tree
Each year KCS budgets funding for teachers to purchase classroom items that will make teaching better and more effective, but the Giving Tree program is a simple and inexpensive way for parents and friends to be involved too! The Giving Tree is located on the wall outside the cafeteria and includes leaves, each of which lists an item that is desired by a particular staff member. If you see an item that you would like to supply, simply remove the leaf (or snowflake) and purchase the item, then bring the item and the leaf or snowflake to the teacher or school office. This is a fun, inexpensive and rewarding way to assist and encourage teachers and staff! And donations are tax deductible!
Big "G" Box Tops for Education
This is a GREAT way to assist KCS with NO out-of-pocket expense! And granparents and other out-of-town family & friends can participate as well! Simply purchase any General Mills cereals and send the "Box Top for Education" coupon from the top of the box to the school. We'll redeem them at face value and use the money for needed equipment! It's a great way to contribute to the cause of Christian education without spending anything extra!

To address todays growing need to get more bang for the buck, a number of programs available that "give back" and help families earn tuition dollars with more popping up all the time.
