Welcome! My name is Krista Shields and I am so excited to be the media specialist for KCS. I have always loved children's books and am happy to be able to give the students many adventures in reading!
Here's a little bit of information about me: • I graduated from Kentucky Christian University in 1991 with a double major in Elementary Education and Bible. • I moved to Indianapolis in 1992 to teach first grade at KCS. • While teaching first grade, I started my Master's Degree in Library Science and am now on my way to completing it (December '09). I knew I would use it someday! • I was married in 1996 to another KCS teacher, who is now on staff at Kingsway Christian Church. • We have two daughters, now students at KCS (and a cat and dog - not a student at KCS). • I love to sing and my favorite groups are Little Big Town and Rascal Flatts. • If you listen closely, you can still hear my Kentucky accent. • My favorite food is chocolate or anything Starbucks! • I tried "Turkish Delight" and am not that delighted with it. • My all-time favorite children's book is A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett. I checked this out at my public library over and over again when I was growing up!
School is almost here! Get ready for Olympic Gold Reading!
My motto in the Library is from the same verse that I try to live by: "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the LORD, not for men." - Colossians 3:23
