Hi my name is Heather Roth and I have been teaching at Kingsway since the fall of 1999! I am the band director for grades 5-8 and the general music teacher for grades 1-3. I am also on the yearbook staff and I coach track in the spring.
Band begins in the 5th grade and we work all year on learning the proper way to hold and play the instrument that they have chosen. In sixth grade we begin to play more challenging music and go to band contest for the first time. In 7th and 8th grade band we work on improving all of the skills that we have learned in the previous years and go to contest in the spring.
In General Music the students learn basic music terms as well as how God has given all of us talents that we can use. We work on singing, matching pitches, and playing various small percussion instruments.
I am a graduate of Penn High School in Mishawaka, IN (near South Bend) and Butler University. I earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Butler. I love performing and teaching. I still keep my playing skills up to par by playing in the Indianapolis Brass Choir.
I have been married since May of 2001 and have 2 sons and a daughter.
