Extracurricular Activities
KCS offers many extra activities which students can be part of to advance their skills and interests in particular areas. Some of these take place during the school day while others take place after school on a monthly or as-needed basis.
Charger Corp (grades 5 – 8) is a student organization responsible for promoting servant - leadership in the student body of KCS in order to fulfill the school mission of developing students "in favor with God and man." Luke 2:52
Teacher Aides (grades 7 – 8) is an opportunity for students to assist teachers throughout the school in various ways. This cultivates leadership growth & skills, as well as building student & teacher rapport.
Safety Patrol (grades 5 – 8) is an opportunity for students to assist with before and after school traffic flow. Students are taught procedures regarding proper traffic management, which encourages leadership growth.
Drama Team (grades 5-8) exists to provide students a chance to honor God with their acting talents. We perform at chapel services and special events and we produce one large-scale production every spring.
Eager Explorers (grades 1 – 4) is a science club that allows students to explore and experiment in several areas of science while applying God’s word to their findings. Specific areas of sciences studied are: ecology, earth science, physics, chemistry, engineering, and biology. Guest speakers, field trips and our annual May rocket launch are also part of this exciting program!
K-Kids (grades 3 - 6) is coordinated through the local Kiwanis Club of Avon and provides opportunities for students to plan, organize and perform community service. K-Kids meets monthly and is a great way to plant the seeds of leadership and teach students the importance of giving-back to the community. This is the first K-Kids club organized in the entire state of Indiana and the ninth club in the country!
Art Festival - students present their artwork and compete for display at the district level.
Math Olympics - students are given the opportunity to fine-tune their math skills and compete against other students in a state meet.
Music Competitions - choir and band students participate in group, and individual competitions.
Science Fair - students create displays explaining an area of science. All students in grades 4, 6 and 8 are required to participate. Students in other grades are welcome to participate at their own choosing.
Speech Meet - students in grades 1 - 8 prepare and present speeches.
Spelling Bee - students in grades 1 - 8 compete within the school. Winners represent KCS at the Regional "Bee".
Book-It Program (grades K-6) - A literacy activity sponsored by Pizza Hut in which students are encouraged to read books to win individual and class prizes.
