HEART HEALTH Our heart is an amazing organ God has given us, and on an average beats 100,000 times a day. Did you know that an elephant’s heart rate is around 35 beats a minute? A hummingbird’s heart rate at rest is 250 beats a minute and up to 1260 beats a minute when eating. Don’t forget to take care of your heart so it can take care of you. Eat foods low in saturated fats, and stay away from foods that contain trans-fats. Get your cholesterol checked along with seeing your physician each year. Don’t forget lots of exercise to keep your heart strong and pumping well. St. Vincent’s Hospital is offering heart scans for $49.00. Call 1-866-432-4452 to make an appointment if interested. Check out the bulletin board across from the nurse’s office for more amazing heart facts! Lori Roberts RN and Jennifer Wall RN
