Dress Code

Dressing For Success

The following guidelines have been established in the development of the dress code for Kingsway Christian School. In the development of this dress code, our first step was to go to the Bible for guidance, keeping in mind that our goals are to, above all:

  1. honor the Lord,
  2. provide a safe environment
  3. establish the best possible setting and atmosphere for a quality Christian education
  4. represent KCS favorably in our community as a witness for our Lord, and
  5. be as "parent friendly" as possible.
We realize there are many other kinds and styles of clothing that are acceptable and honoring to the Lord, but KCS has chosen the following in establishing our dress code.

Pants will consist of slacks or corduroys (but must be from a uniform company or look the same as a uniform style), as well as traditional regular cut jeans. Jeans/pants should be modest, not tight-fitting. Pants must be a solid color of khaki, navy or black. No stripes, designs or patterns are allowed. They must not touch the ground and must be in good condition (no holes or frayed ends).

Shorts must be from a uniform company only. They must be a solid color of khaki, navy or black OR Schoolbelles plaid. When standing they must be no more than 3" above the knee and not extend below the knee.

Shirts & Blouses must be oxford, polo, turtleneck, or mock turtleneck style either long or short sleeved from a uniform company or look the same as a uniform style (no snaps or trendy sleeve lengths or cuts, please). They must be a solid color of white, navy, light blue, light yellow, red, or dark green. Denim blue oxford shirts may also be worn. Polo and oxford shirts must have buttons and should be buttoned to one button from the collar and must be tucked in and not "bloused out" below the waistband. Turtleneck and mock turtleneck shirts may be solid knit or ribbed lightweight cotton material in the colors mentioned above.

Sweaters, Sweater Vests & KCS Sweatshirts must be from a uniform company or KCS only, and must be a solid color of white, navy, black, red or dark green. Allowed styles include crew neck, V-neck, or cardigan of standard waist length and worn over an acceptable dress code shirt or blouse. Turtleneck sweaters are not part of the dress code.

Skirts & Jumpers must be from a uniform company or look similar to the uniform style (A-line, boxy style with no slits). They must be a solid color of khaki, navy, black, OR Schoolbelles plaid and must extend to the top of the knee when standing. An acceptable dress code shirt or blouse must be worn under a jumper. Split skirts as shown in Schoolbelles catalog are acceptable and must extend at least to the top of the knee when standing. No scooter skirts or skorts (shorts with flap over front) are to be worn.

Shoes. No sandals are allowed and all shoelaces must be properly tied. Socks or hose must be worn with all footwear.

All clothing should fit in a manner that is modest and neat in appearance. Clothing that is overly loose and baggy or tight and form-fitting is considered unacceptable. Students wearing unacceptable clothing may not attend class.
