Welcome to Kindergarten
Hi! My name is Charma Gurley and I am privileged to be a kindergarten teacher at Kingsway this year. I am teaching a full day class of 18 students. This is my 22nd year teaching at KCS. I came to Indianapolis in 1977 to teach the first combination class of first and second graders. The school has really made many changes since then! Kingsway now has an enrollment of over 700 students compared to the initial 25 students. I pray that each student who has been in the classrooms through the years will make a difference for Christ in our world!
I have been married to a wonderful husband, Tom, for 25 years. We have two daughters who have completed their education at KCS. Katie is a senior at Indidana Wesleyan University and Hannah is a Freshman at Purdue University. Our other house members are two cats and a cockapoo dog.
I received my bachelor's degree from Milligan College in east Tennessee. My first teaching job was in a very small Christian School in northeastern Ohio. When it closed after 5 years, I moved to Indianapolis. My masters degree was earned at Butler University. I taught 2nd grade for ten years then stayed home for ten years to raise my daughters. When I came back to KCS, I have taught kindergarten for 11 years. This age is so exciting to work with. I enjoy teaching this age.
