Athletics & Physical Education - Molding The Body

The Kingsway Christian School Physical Education program provides emphasis on health-related fitness by developing the skills and habits necessary for a lifetime of activities while at the same time honoring Christ. This program offers enjoyment, challenge, self-expression and social interaction through a variety of opportunities.
All physical education classes are coed in grades kindergarten through eighth grade. First through sixth grade meets two times per week while seventh and eighth grades meet every other day. Student assessment includes written evaluation, performance-based skill evaluation as well as everyday participation and preparedness. A physical education uniform of shorts and t-shirt is required for sixth through eighth grade. All other grades are required to wear tennis shoes to each physical education class.
A wide variety of activities and skills are taught throughout the year including but not limited to basic locomotor skills, eye-hand coordination activities, group games involving teamwork, jump rope, obstacle course, roller skating, team sports, Presidential Physical Fitness Program, and an all-school field day.
After School Athletics [Back to top]
Athletics at Kingsway Christian School are an integral part of the overall school program, so Kingsway offers a variety of opportunities for both boys and girls. Through the years, we’ve seen our share of athletic successes in soccer, volleyball and basketball.
Kingsway is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and the Indianapolis Independent Sports League (IISL). This allows each team to participate against a variety of schools for a regular season and league tournament championships, which in turn presents many opportunities for the players to expand their knowledge and understanding of the sport, and their abilities. We also believe that a Christian witness and testimony can and should be exemplified through participation. Our athletic program is one of several means of developing the total Christian. Any worthwhile activity requires commitment and sports is no exception.
Athletics is a tremendous vehicle with which to instill character qualities we want all of our students to exhibit. These are all scripturally based, and they are consistently reinforced through study, practice and prayer.
As Kingsway has grown through the years, the list of programs has expanded. The same is true for the future. As we continue to grow and increased interest is shown for particular sports, we’ll be happy to pursue those opportunities as well.
The following sports are available at KCS: micro soccer, soccer, girls’ volleyball, tennis, boys’ basketball, girls’ basketball, cheerleading, track, baseball and softball.
