As one of the newest teachers at Kingsway Christian School, I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself. My name is Amanda Emmert and I am 29 years old. My husband's name is Jay and we have two wonderful children, Grant and Katarina. Grant is 5, and is in Mrs. Gurley's full day kindergarten class. Katarina is 3 and is in the Kingsway daycare. It's great to have them both at Kingsway with me! My husband, Jay, is the new band director at Creston Middle School in Indianapolis and is working with the Warren Central High School band as well.
I was born in Ohio, but grew up in southern Indiana. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in elementary education from the University of Southern Indiana. After graduating Jay and I were both hired at Owensville Community School in Owensville, IN. He was the new band director and I was a fourth grade teacher's aide. We met the first day of school in August and the rest as they say is history! We were married that December!
The following year we had our son, Grant, and we decided to take a big leap of faith and move to Florida where teaching opportunities were abundant! We lived there for five years and enjoyed it tremendously, but we missed our families. So, now we are back in Indiana, starting our new jobs and are very happy to be with our loved ones! (The mid-west winters may take some time for us to readjust to though!)
I am so excited about being at Kingway! It is such a joy to be here with wonderful people and to be in a great environment. I love being able to teach students God's word! This is a great place to learn and share the love of Jesus Christ!
